The one-armed God of War - the bravest of all - ‘Tyr’.
Tyr are a band originating from the Faroe Islands, touring in countries such as Iceland, Denmark, Russia, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Finland, Russia,
Germany, and of course, the Faroe Islands.
Their album ‘Eric the Red’ went on to become the best sold album in the Faroe Islands and earned them recognition from Australian record company,
‘Napalm Records’.

 

Almost every song is based on Faroese or Nordic lore, generally through the genre of Folk Metal. In 2006, Tyr started work on the album ‘Ragnarok’, -
a personal favourite of mine - according to the Tyr website, “Ragnarok emerges as a masterpiece within the true Viking Metal genre!”.

Jamband is the term used to refer to musical groups that do live performances and create albums that speak about fan culture. This kind of group originated back in the 1960s, and it was the popular Grateful Dead who started it all. From then on, jamband continued its mark by coming up with similar bands such as the Phish in the 1990s.

But there are reports establishing the use of the term jamband as early as 1937 with the band Coleman Hawkins and His All Star Jam Band. Musicians during this time included the term jam band in the glossary of dance orchestra, which simply means an improvisation of music. There is no written music, and playing is more on improvising an existing tune or melody, which is usually over extended.

Jamband Features

What you usually see in jamband performances are extended musical improvisation, which means there are a lot of jamming in the middle of a song. The songs created make up long sets of chord patterns that can make a listener move in a rhythmic mood. The first ever jamband, Grateful Dead, was known for their psychedelic rock music. Over the years, the term jamband do not only refer to rock music, but it included, jazz fusion, progressive bluegrass, and funk tunes. The term has also expanded their music to include groups that play folk music, country music, electronica, world music, and blues.

Jamband Today

When the music of Grateful Dead, who had huge fans and followers, began to lay low, the Phish jamband inherited not only their music but the community of followers as well. Phish was later on described as the breathing and cultural phenomena that had hippies for fans following them across the country. Today, jamband is the term used for all music influenced by Grateful Dead and related bands, which includes the music played by the Jay Trainer Band.

In today’s generation, Jay Trainer is the popular jamband performer. Putting in use the traditional rock tunes in his music, he is admired for incorporating tones, which can be smooth and quiet and then burst to a loud tune at anytime. He has mastery in several aspects of the rock music, which gives him an advantage especially in the Bay Area scene. People who want to listen to stark lyricism coupled with thick, creative guitar riffs will definitely go for the Jay Trainer Band.

Jay Trainer grew up in San Francisco, California and has been an avid listener of classic rock and soul music. It was during his adolescent years when he was finally influenced by the music he constantly listened to and soon started a jamband. From doing shows throughout the country together with his college band, he soon settled and established himself in his homegrown state where he is getting more successful.

“Buyer Beware” We all have heard this a thousand times, yet many consumers continue to purchase products with false or misleading information. One case in point is the HDTV antenna. Lets separate the facts from the fiction.
FICTION Special TV antennas are necessary to receive the new HDTV/Digital signal.

FACT HDTV/Digital signal is and will broadcast on many of the same channel frequencies that traditional analog television has been broadcasting on for years.
FICTION All HDTV signals will be broadcast on the UHF frequency band.
FACT Nearly every television broadcasting market in the U.S. will have at least one or more VHF and UHF HDTV channels.
FICTION I will need to replace my current TV antenna to receive HDTV.
FACT If your current TV antenna can receive both VHF and UHF TV signals, and is in proper working order, it is unlikely a change will be necessary.
Because of widespread misunderstanding many people will purchase two TV antennas. The first TV antenna will be purchased as an HDTV antenna. This TV antenna will be a UHF TV antenna. The well meaning dealer who sold the antenna thought all HDTV signals would be broadcast on the UHF band.
I believe for the most part this is an honest mistake. All broadcasters are required to broadcast their traditional analog signal until February 2009. At the same time broadcasters are broadcasting their new digital signal. Because of the limited channel space allotted for television broadcasting, most HDTV/Digital channels are temporarily assigned to UHF channels, and will permanently be assigned in February 2009. At this time many of the digital channels currently broadcasting on the UHF will return to the VHF frequency.
The fact of the matter is, there is no difference between a traditional TV antenna and a HDTV antenna. Although some people would like you to think there is, this simply isn’t true.
When choosing your TV antenna, use the same guide lines used for selecting a traditional antenna. Consider the antennas quality, size, range, and how much money you are willing to spend and in most cases be sure the TV antenna is VHF/UHF capable. Remember if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
